We’re very sad to announce that Sandra Jones, our friend and former Appointments Secretary to the District, passed away peacefully this morning.
Sandra was the friendly face many of us met when we went along to get our DBS checked or for our Appointments panel chat. For lots, Sandra was one of the first faces in their volunteer journey,
She was an absolutely first rate administrator, sailing through the reams of paperwork and deftly dealing with databases. All with the result of making sure that young people were safe by checking those that volunteered to look after them were suitable for their role.
Her memory was second to none, always knowing exactly who was at which stage in the process and what training they had – or usually hadn’t done.
But despite this diligence, Sandra did it all with a sense of perspective, sense of fairness and most importantly sense of humour. People didn’t just pop in to see her for official business, they more usually popped in for a nice chat and a gossip!
Our thoughts are with her son Mark, daughter-in-law Helen, grandson Rhys, and brother Alan.
