Ron Edwards, our District Archivist and member of the HQ Scout Active Support Unit, passed away at the weekend. He was 85 and had not been well for several months.

He joined the Scouts at the age of 7 as a Wolf Cub and – incredibly – was active in the movement for every one of the next 78 years.

Ron was a Leader with Southsea, 5th Wrexham and 1st Rhosnessney, and had given many years service as a Leader Trainer – passing on his many skills to new Leaders joining the Movement. More recently he was instrumental in putting together our 100 years of Scouting display in Wrexham Museum.

He was recently awarded the Chief Scout’s SIXTY years Long Service Award, and on St George’s Day 2007, in Scouting’s Centenary year, Ron was awarded the Silver Wolf – the highest award made by The Scouts for services of the most exceptional nature.

Rest in peace Ron.
