Hope you all managed to build your shelters at home last week!? Remember, if you want to earn your survival badge you need to send photos to your leader or post on your Section’s Facebook group.
This week we want you to make your own Survival Kit!
First of all you’ll need a suitable container. It needs to be small enough to carry around with you, but large enough to fit everything in. It also needs to be waterproof and hard wearing. Here’s what needs to go in to it…
- Fire lighting kit
- Windproof matches
- Flint and steel
- Cotton wool balls
- Food and water
- Water purification tablets
- Fishing line
- Hooks
- Weights
- Float
- Copper snare wire 0.6mm
- Navigation and signalling
- Whistle
- Signal mirror
- Pencil
- Paper
- Button compass
- Tools and materials
- Fixed blade/Swiss army knife
- P-38 can opener
- Heavy duty needle and thread
- Para cord
- Tallow candle
- Wire steel saw
There may well be quite a lot of this you can’t get your hands on during lockdown, but make a start and add the items you don’t have as and when you get chance.
