A local Sensai (teacher) has offered access to workshops for Scout groups in the Wrexham area.
The dojo is situated in the Parish Hall in Rhostyllen but she can bring mats with her to Scout huts, but will need to cover the cost of a van if I do this (£50). If the sessions are held at the Parish Hall then the only charge would be for the hall (£20). The lady is offering her time and skills for free.
Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido (or Ki Aikido) focusses on the development of relaxation and calmness to achieve co-ordination. This is more akin to Mindfulness and calmness training, although there are martial aspects that can be applied.
As an Executive Principal of an SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health) school the Sensai is both experienced at developing these skills to enable young people to increase their resilience and improve their mental wellbeing, which is central to today’s Scout programme.
