Successful bronze DofE practice expedition 28th – 29th October
Kaia Dodman (Atlas ESU), Dylan Collins (Young Leaders ESU), Luke Holt (Young Leaders ESU), Jake Knapper (Bishop’s Own ESU) and Josh Evans (K2 ESU) successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition.
They set off on Saturday morning from the Ponsenby Arms in Llangollen and navigated through the valley taking in and enjoying the views from Dinas Bran castle. The group worked well together and were relieved to reach their campsite at Pen y Clawdd farm. On the Sunday they set off early up the mountain towards the Ponderosa, through Hafod Bilston to their finish point at the car park in Llandegla village.
The group worked well together and showed great determination to carry on when at times their bodies were telling them to stop. They have learnt a lot from this practice expedition and now know what they need to practice or change to make their qualifying expedition a success.
Supervisors for the group were Wrexham District’s Duke of Edinburgh Award Advisor Kelvin Vernon, Annie Holdsworth (Guides) and Angharad Davies (Guides).
