Two groups of Wrexham Scouts have had amazing times in Switzerland and the Czech Republic this summer.
The District Scouts’ trip to Adelboden took them into the high Alps where they went walking, on a high ropes course, swimming and visited the World Scout Centre in Kandersteg.
K2 Explorer Scouts had a packed two weeks in Dobrochovice & Prague where they went canoeing, rock climbing, paintballing, visited a silver mine, had a mediaeval banquet, a night river boat cruise and much more.
Both of these trips wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated leader teams behind them led by David Paul Drew and John Houghton. I know how much work goes into these trips, often sleepless nights too worrying if you’ve got everything sorted. To all the leaders who put in the hours and days to make these trips possible I’d like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you.
As well as being a lot of fun, these trips make a huge difference to the young people who take part. Parents tell us again and again how much their sons and daughters have changed after returning from a Scout trip abroad. I even find that parents treat the leaders who’ve run these trips with much more respect as their kids just won’t stop talking about the experiences they’ve had.
If any adults or Young Leaders out there get the chance to be part of a team organising a trip abroad, go for it! It’s a lot of hard work, but the pay-back in worth it!
Thanks once again for the Leaders who put on these two trips this summer!
Amazing work!
