Last Friday, 28 Cub Scouts from 1st Rhosnesni visited Wrexham’s brand new Fire and Ambulance Station to help them gain their Scout fire safety badge.
The group had a session at the start on the importance of fire safety in the home and also talked about how to keep safe around camp fires – useful knowledge for when the group is on camp!
The Cubs then took a look around the new 8 bay fire station. Many of the Cubs tried their hand at being a firefighter by trying on the equipment, most of which was far too big! They also got to take a look around the fire appliances, learning what each piece of equipment does in certain emergency call outs.
Obviously desperate to take the helm of the appliances the Cubs formed a queue to take to the front seat! The most impressive appliance for all the cubs was the aerial ladder platform which the firefighters demonstrated going up to its full extension of 27m.
The 1st Rhosnesni extremely enjoyed their trip to the new station and would like to again thank Wrexham Blue Watch for taking the time to show them around.
