I’m sorry to announce that Mat Lewis is stepping down as District Explorer Scout Commissioner. Mat has moved house and started a job in Flintshire so doesn’t have the time to fulfil the many responsibilities of the role.

Mat will be continuing to support Explorer Scouting in Wrexham however as District Explorer Scout Administrator.

As a result we are splitting the role of DESC into two. The DESC (Programme) will be responsible for the District Explorer Scout programme and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – essentially the ADC part of the DESC role. The DESC (Unit Support) will line manage the Explorer Scout Leaders and support the Units directly – the GSL part of the DESC role.

I hope to have news about our DESC (Unit Support) in the spring, but I can announce now that Kelvin Vernon is taking on the DESC (Programme) with immediate effect.

Kelvin has been doing a great job as DofE Advisor and I’m excited to see his plans for expanding on this to the whole District ES programme.

A big thank you to Mat for all his support in what was a massive role. Mat, you’ve been a star!

Here’s to the continued development of this crucial Section in 2017 and beyond…!
