Your Say! Programme 2019

The results are in! Thanks to all of you who voted in our Programme 2019 survey. Some very interesting feedback which we’ll be now using to plan the District Programme for next year. We hope to have this out for mid October.

You can read the full report here, but the headlines are:

  • The vast majority of you (97%) think that two all-District events a year is about right, but some thought a District camp should be held every few years on top of this
  • Most thought we should rename St George’s Day to Promise Day, that this should be held in the public eye, preferably in Bellevue Park, and that it should focus on Scouting Skills
  • Most thought we should hold a Christmas Celebration, preferably in Ty Pawb and it should involve Christmas themed activities and food & drink

Beaver Scouts

  • Most thought 4 District Beaver Scout events a year was right
  • These should be: a Spring activity/visit just for fun with the theme picked by the Beavers; a District sleepover/camp based on a Challenge badge; a trip picked by Beavers and an Autumn indoor activity afternoon
  • The Skills Challenge was the award most leaders wanted more support with

Cub Scouts

  • Most thought between 3 and 4 District Cub Scout events a year was right
  • These should be: a District Cub camp based on a Challenge badge; an Activity/visit based on a Challenge badge; a Trip picked by Cubs and maybe an outdoor activity/competition
  • The Adventure Challenge and the Skills Challenge were the awards most leaders wanted more support with
  • Leaders struggled to put on canoeing and rafting for their Cubs

Scouts

  • Most thought 3 District Scout events a year was right
  • These should be: an outdoor activity/competition; an activity/visit based on a Challenge badge; a District camp based on a Challenge badge
  • The Expedition Challenge and the Team Leader Challenge were the awards most leaders wanted more support with
  • Leaders struggled to put on canoeing, rafting and digital/IT for their Scouts

Explorers

  • Most thought between 3 and 4 District Explorer Scout events a year was right
  • These should be: Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions & training; Young Leader training and Unit organised events shared with all Units
  • Leaders struggled to put on canoeing, rafting, community impact, pioneering, and digital/IT for their Explorers
