Throughout February this year young people are taking over their Beaver Colonies, Cub Packs, Scout Troops and Explorer Units across the UK to mark #YouShape2017

Last year we had an incredibly successful YouShape week, including a District day of activities where loads of young people came along and told us what they wanted to do and how we should be running things.

This year it’s been extended to a month and the concentration is on doing things in Sections and Groups.

So, our Assistant District Youth Commissioners – all aged under 18 people themselves – are joining in with District events to run YouShape activities. Max will be making use of the time on the bus on the way to Cadbury’s World to find out what the Cubs want to do at their upcoming camp in the autumn. Tom will be at Frost Camp asking where the next District international should be.

Katie kicked off the month at the Beavers visit to Techniquest on Saturday when she was asking the kids to vote where they want to go for their trip in September. They were given the choice between Chester Zoo, Gulliver’s World, Drayton Manor and RAF Cosford – Gulliver’s World won the vote!

We’re also encouraging Scout Groups to run their own activities over the month, and our District Youth Team will be popping in to see how they’re getting on. Our District Youth Commissioner, Sam Wilde, is even giving out a tray of doughnuts to one lucky Section who uses the hashtag #youshapewxm17 to show what they’ve done!

UPDATE: Here’s Tom from Frost Camp to tell you how he got on!

Loads of ideas of how to join in with #YouShape2017 are on the Scouts website
